Important Imperial Russian antique jewel, most likely crafted by one of the chief workmasters of the Faberge firm – August Hollming or commissioned through one of Faberge's main suppliers - Eduard Wilhelm Schramm. This fantastic necklace pendant comes directly from descendants of an Austrian Hungarian aristocratic family and was recently purchased from an estate sale. The jewel is said to have been a custom order made especially for an occasion by the Faberge firm and bears no hallmarks or maker’s marks. Nevertheless, the style of work, the details and materials used can without much doubt attribute the piece to be of a Faberge manufacture. Additionally, the type of flower / floral motifs design, the particular style of stone setting with hand engraved leafs and the overall appearance even further attribute the jewel to be crafted by one of Faberge’s best master jewelers – August Hollming or commissioned through one of Faberge's main suppliers - Eduard Wilhelm Schramm. Similar or nearly identical pendants, lockets, brooches and other jewels with this particular flower design are very much typical for the 1900-1908 style used in Holming’s jewelry that were still influenced by the late Victorian style. The jewel itself resembles an intricately swirled cornflower or Lily of the Valley flower with blue sapphire buds. The whole piece is made of yellow gold base and gilded silver settings, fully paved with old European brilliant cut diamonds of exceptional average F color and VVS clarity. There is a total of 44 diamonds with estimated weight of 7.5 carats. The 3.5 carat large Kashmir and deep corn blue colored sapphire drop has an unusual conical shape measuring 9mm tall with a diameter of 7mm at its widest part. The remaining two cabochon sapphires are about 1 carat each thus adding to a total of 5.5 carats for all 3 sapphires. ALL sapphires have superb clarity and color and are perfectly natural, untreated and unheated finest quality Kashmir gems unparalleled for their style and glamour. This necklace pendant measures 70mm long and 32mm wide and has a gross weight of 12.9 grams. Original chain is missing, but we have provided a good and matching by style modern one.
